Soup-A-Hero

The entry procedure
- Take note of the SOUP FLAVOUR for the new month entry — it can be anything from Butternut soup to Mushroom soup.
- Check the DATE of submission – it will usually fall just after a weekend or public holiday, to allow you time to make your delicious soup!
- Your entry must consist of 2 “buckets” – one must be at least 5 litres, which will be donated to a soup kitchen or creche by the Garden Route Food Pantry (please feel free to make more if you are able and willing). The second container is a small 1 litre amount which will be tasted by the judges to find a winner!
The Garden Route food pantry is happy to provide the containers to you, please arrange collection from the office. - Your soup must be delivered on the due date, between 9am and 3pm. If you need to arrange an alternate time, please do contact us.
Please maintain strict health practices and don’t allow your soup to stand hot for too long. Please refrigerate as soon as it has cooled down, it can also be delivered frozen – this is preferable. - Entry is open to ANYONE! Whether you are just an avid home cook or a professional chef, feel free to enter – let’s see what you can do!
- The winner will be selected by the judges and announced on our social media pages as well as in the George Herald! The judges decision will be final. We will request they also give some feedback on why they made the selection they did.
- Each month, the winner will be awarded a meal for 2 voucher from Upstairs at Harrys. Other prizes may also be awarded as new sponsors support the contest.
